Right now, 30 Seconds to Mars is doing a live webchat. It’s all kinds of chaos but it’s still a lot of fun. Check it out if you have a chance. There is no moderator so we don’t know how long this will go for…

Closer To The Edge

After waiting far longer (in my opinion) than the US should, we finally have the newest video from 30 Seconds to Mars. It premiered at midnight on Myspace Music. In typical 30 Seconds to Mars fashion, they have topped themselves yet again. There is a lusciousness and splendor with a fantastic message in this beautiful video. If you haven’t seen it, you need to rectify that. Now…

Perhaps my favorite line in this video is..

“Some people believe in God, I believe in music. Some people pray, I turn up the radio.”

I’m not sure how 30 Seconds to Mars are able to continually top themselves when it comes to music videos. Watching the evolution of their videos (I’m a music video junkie by the way), you can easily see how they have evolved and grown as a band. The Kill and Attack will always be classics but I think 30 Seconds to Mars is bringing about a new type of video. They have upped the ante. They continue to incorporate fans in their videos (and music) be it in concert footage, talking to the camera, or going for a bike ride. They are all encompassing, giving their videos more emotion and power than any I have seen. These aren’t just videos, they are mini movies. They span everything the earth has to offer; race, religion, generations, and continents. Let’s see someone else top that.

Wow! What a crazy weekend that was. For those of you who don’t know, Kristen and I spent our Friday and Saturday taking part in the North Park Music thing. It was awesome conferences such as; Touring on a Budget, Future of Radio, Technology and Music, and a keynote speech by Kim Fowley during the day and music all night long. We spent our Friday night with Endoxi, The Dirges, Republic of Letters, and The Silent Comedy. Saturday was spent discovering tons of new music (and enjoying some old) such as Delaney Gibson, The Makepeace Brothers, The Union Line, Citizen Band, Lady Danville, Astra Kelley, Shaimus, and The Rescues. Amanda’s Show Calendar 8/3-8/9

It’s time for the weekly show calendar. Things are going to change a bit on this end because there isn’t much out on a Monday night these days. If I see something I’ll add it to the bottom of my calendar (because I like to do things backwards) if there is anything of note. It’s been a bit busy on my end of things and I’m sorry I haven’t been able to post and be as active as I would like to be. In fact, this is my first time turning the computer on in two days!! I’m going to work at being around more than I have been. And now to bypass the rest of my apologies, reasoning, and promises….

Busy Bee

Well I know you SD folks never got a proper concert calendar for this week but I trust you were savvy enough to check back on the “keep in mind” shows for this week. I’ve had a rather hectic week down here and am still recovering from Comic Con. Yes I went. Yes it was fantastic. But here is a little something that has kept me occupied these past few days…

San Diego’s own Endoxi is getting ready to launch their first ever full length album and I can tell you firsthand, these guys have never sounded better. It’s fun, catchy, eclectic, and inspirational to say the least. I believe everyone should own a copy of “Earthbound.” It would be a shame not to have this in your music library. I personally can’t wait to see these guys play live at Epicentre for their cd release August 6th with Get Back Loretta and Long Live Logos! Pre-order it now on their site or come check out the show.

More to come so stay tuned 🙂

Amanda’s Show Calendar 6/20-6/25

As promised (but a bit later than promised) the shows around town this week. It seems most venues have keyed in to the fact that Comic Con is in town this week from Thursday to Sunday and they know better than to book any huge shows. The night to be out is Wednesday this week with lots of options.

Enjoy your week folks no matter what you get up to 🙂
