For some reason, my body decided it needed to fall asleep sometime well after 2am. This meant I had a pretty solid nap today that left me really groggy and slow, hence the later-than-preferred posting time of said calendar. This week was a great reminder about the universality of music and how it’s a force to bring people together for a common experience. This isn’t something that’s a new revelation to me but sometimes it’s something that I need to be reminded of from time to time. I went out this week to catch Fly By Midnight, who give major Parade of Lights (miss them so much!!) vibes. I watched people in the crowd who were familiar with the band feel the music a la The Maine show I went to. I made a new friend while standing out in the cold (yes, it was in the 50s or 60s, it was cold) to be let in and I spent my night at a table with a lovely couple I had met that night. We bonded over mutual feelings of the first band, laughed about life, and had a lovely time together! I hope to run into them at another show sometime in the future. But, it’s a new week, so let’s see what’s up…

I made it out to see Beauty School Dropout this week and even though it was on a weeknight on one of my busiest days, I’m very thankful I went! They were super fun and it was so nice to see them live after hearing Kristen talk about how great they are. I often feel like music and live shows are one of those great unifiers, meaning it can bring people together and forge new friendships. I was in Anaheim on Monday for Fall Out Boy, The Maine, Jimmy Eat World, and Daisey Grendae, and ended up making new friends in the process. The show was as great as expected and seeing it in an arena instead of an outdoor venue, definitely provided a different perspective, especially because my perspective was from the side, but all that being said, it was the nourishment I needed to make it through my week and I got a new friend out of the whole thing too!

This week seems a bit lighter than usual for us but there are still some bright spots to check out!
