This week I was stymied by some allergies (I’m 99.9% sure) so I was stuck at home and pretty much tied to tissues, my bed, and the couch. I’ve recently become hooked on Cold Justice, so I was able to make some great progress with the show but I’m bummed I missed out on some fun last week. I did put World’s First Cinema on today and relived the joy of seeing them last week. So, that was nice.

This week I made it out to check out World’s First Cinema! Well, I went specifically to watch this leftie drummer Kristen had told me about years and years ago. She thought I’d enjoy watching him play (she had good reason) and he came through town playing with this band and it was so much fun! They opened for Taylor Acorn, who was also a delight. I especially enjoyed watching her fans in the crowd. However, I seem to be paying for my fun today. To say last week was challenging for me would be a bit of an understatement. Between a dead car battery, tons of driving around, and a shower drain that stopped draining, I didn’t have much energy to go out. I really wanted to see Lioneer last week but I didn’t have it in me to drive some more. I did manage to get into something artsy by attending the MissionFed Artwalk on Saturday to check out one of my favorite jewelry makers. I might have also picked up a bracelet, a print, and some other things. This week will also be challenging in a different way, but I’m hoping to temper that with a show or two.

This week was a great reminder about the universality of music and how it’s a force to bring people together for a common experience. This isn’t something that’s a new revelation to me but sometimes it’s something that I need to be reminded of from time to time. I went out this week to catch Fly By Midnight, who give major Parade of Lights (miss them so much!!) vibes. I watched people in the crowd who were familiar with the band feel the music a la The Maine show I went to. I made a new friend while standing out in the cold (yes, it was in the 50s or 60s, it was cold) to be let in and I spent my night at a table with a lovely couple I had met that night. We bonded over mutual feelings of the first band, laughed about life, and had a lovely time together! I hope to run into them at another show sometime in the future. But, it’s a new week, so let’s see what’s up…

I made it out to see Beauty School Dropout this week and even though it was on a weeknight on one of my busiest days, I’m very thankful I went! They were super fun and it was so nice to see them live after hearing Kristen talk about how great they are. This week, I’m hoping to sneak out to catch a few more shows and shake off this blues from all the rain we had this weekend. Lots to choose from, including the relase of Kimmi Bitter’s new album Old School, which is already getting some major buzz. No bad choices here!
