I woke up this morning sore from a bit of a rough and tumble night at The Palladium. Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls always put on a crazy show, but it was an opener from Philadelphia, The Menzingers, that had me caught in the middle of a whirling pit of bodies. In the end, I was tossed all the way to the front, so I suppose it worked out. Bonus points for a pre-show interview with Frank Turner. We chatted about his 7th (!?!) album, Be More Kind, SXSW antics, and future projects that promise to be “extremely odd.” There is no one quite like Frank Turner (interview forthcoming on High Voltage).
Tonight, I’m heading out for a murder mystery evening that centers around the death of an arrogant millionaire. I am playing the role of youngest daughter, so this will be the perfect way to spend a day devoted to fathers…
As for next week, plenty of good shows, but one do not miss featuring Badflower at The Troubadour Wednesday night. Hope to see you there!
