Despite the fact that both my body and my car tried to fall apart this long holiday weekend, I’m going to call it a win as there was lots of beach time, I finished a book and a puzzle, watched Harry Potter movies, and caught up with a few friends. More importantly, I listened to a ton of music and got solid starts on both my 2019 music mix and 2020’s SXSW band list. I kept coming back around to Sam Fender’s Hypersonic Missiles and a new(er) song by Matt Duke called “Mary Got Wasted”.
Upon reflection, there was a lot in the music realm to be excited about last year, but the year isn’t quite over so let’s see if anything in the next few weeks can crack the best of list. Top contenders this week include a slew of options Wednesday night and Dreamers playing Friday at The El Rey.
