I had a night out last week! It was not for live music, but a night at the drive-in to see a movie was a welcomed change of pace. The movie, the Robin Williams gem from the 90s, Hook, magically transported me back to my youth. I hadn’t seen the film in years, but other than the first 15-20 minutes, I knew every beat. The best part of the evening, however, was very probably experiencing the long-forgotten routine of the late-night drive home. I hadn’t realized how much I missed that time for reflection, for music, and for the opportunity to experience a traffic free Los Angeles.
Musical highlights from last week included a double set from SUR, Glen Phillips singing a Toad the Wet Sprocket jam, and George Barnett whose song “Make It Rain” is my current musical obsession. Next week, I look forward to tuning in for the Virtual Musikfest 2020 and seeing Frank Turner reunite with The Sleeping Souls!
