Kristen’s 2013 Music Mix – Track 16 – Sir Sly

2013 was another excellent year for music. I put together a little mix of some of the songs and artists that meant something to me this year. Enjoy!

16. Sir SlySir Sly is another of my favorite 2013 discoveries. From their February residency at The Echo to their packed headlining show in November, this band has come together and matured at an alarming rate. They have the songs, they have the performance, and they even have that air of mystery. I anticipate great things from Sir Sly so pay attention!

Kristen’s 2013 Music Mix – Track 15 – Meg Myers

2013 was another excellent year for music. I put together a little mix of some of the songs and artists that meant something to me this year. Enjoy!

15. Meg Myers

I adore Meg Myers. This year she tantalized us with this single, the show stopping “Heart Heart Head”.  She is one of those artists that has the ability to take you to another place with her music and live performance. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform a couple times this year. Meg Myers is unforgettable.

Kristen’s 2013 Music Mix – Track 14 – Gin Wigmore

2013 was another excellent year for music. I put together a little mix of some of the songs and artists that meant something to me this year. Enjoy!

14. Gin Wigmore

I’ve been a causal Gin fan for a few years, but this summer at Warped Tour was the first time I was able to see her live and I really connected with her music and brand of girl power. If I were a singer, I’d wear comfy t-shirts and shorts while my band dressed in suits and ties. Seriously, “everybody’s doing it so why the hell should I”

13. Leogun

One of my 2012 discoveries released their debut album this year and I continue to be in love with their brand of rock n’ roll. Despite their British home, the trio spent a lot of time in the US this year and I had some fun adventures with them in both LA and Austin.

2013 was another excellent year for music. I put together a little mix of some of the songs and artists that meant something to me this year. Enjoy!

12. Crash Kings

I’m going to give Crash Kings the award for most anticipated release of 2013. I mean how many years did we have to wait for a follow up to their brilliant debut? Dark Of The Daylight features a couple of my favorite Crash Kings songs and introduced me to a few new gems like “Hot Fire”. Seeing this band take the stage at The Troubadour and perform the new tunes was another 2013 concert highlight.

2013 was another excellent year for music. I put together a little mix of some of the songs and artists that meant something to me this year. Enjoy!

11. Matthew MayfieldMatthew Mayfield had me absolutely transfixed with his new EP, Irons in the Fire. When I saw him at The Hotel Cafe, he proved himself an entertaining and versatile singer. Then the EP came out and really took my love of him to another level. On the EP are a couple new versions of the heart-stopping “Fire Escape”.
