Happy 2025! I’ve not got many positive things to say about 2024, but there were some amazing shows and exciting new music discoveries. I’ve put together some of my most memorable songs in my 2024 Music Mix. As for 2025, I’m staring the year in Tokyo. Not sure how much live music I’ll get in while I’m there (the ticketing system for concerts and other events is not kind to foreigners), but fingers crossed!

I wish I were in the Philadelphia area this week for the return of one of my absolute favorite bands. Philly legends, Jealousy Curve, are taking the stage for the first time in nearly 8 years at Ardmore Music Hall on December 26^th for what will surely be a night to remember. They have been teasing new music and I am having a very hard time acknowledging that I will not be there to hear it live for the first time.

LA is pretty quiet music-wise, but there are a few options towards the end of the week. I hope you all enjoy the Holidays next week!

I have the voice of Ben Gibbard swimming in my ears after attending a wonderful End of Year Bash sponsored by 88.5FM. My only quibble is that Ben did not play Death Cab for Cutie’s “The New Year” at a turn of the year event. It’s Thanksgiving week which is low on shows but high on gratitude for all the opportunities to see favorite bands over the last week or so (Nico Vega, Mondo Cozmo, The Wrecks – I’m looking at you!).  This year in particular, I’m also so incredibly grateful for all of the venues and venue staff that have taken care of me. Life feels so impossible so much of the time, but they make going to shows easy.
