Well, by this time next week I’ll be in Austin for SXSW. It’s kind of crazy to think that it’s that time of year already and I’m feeling the mad scramble to get ready. This includes stocking up on snack items, raiding the closet for comfy clothing items, finding and charging all power devices, deciding what electronics to take, and mentally preparing for all the walking. So. Much. Walking.

Hello from a very rain soaked San Diego. I’m really enjoying this grey weather as long as I’m not actually in it. What is it about the rain that brings out the very worst driver in everyone? Also, I managed to get out to the barn just in time for a huge thunderstorm to roll in. Thankfully I was able to hide under a horse shelter until it passed and managed to avoid drowned rat status, although my hair is starting to reach Hermione Granger status.

I was out a few times last week for shows and had a lovely time. This weekend was spent visiting with friends from out of town at Disneyland and California Adventure. I even dressed up for Dapper Day yesterday. This week is full of more adventures while we count down the time to SXSW.

Well, I actually made it out to a show last week. I know, shocker. I went to the Casbah to catch the first show from new band Wars and see The Young Wild for the first time. I’m glad I made it out but it just reminds me how I’m not in show shape anymore. Yes, it’s a specific kind of “shape” you have to be in. Or I’m just getting older. One of the two.

I’ve know for some time that getting older means things change. Long gone are the days of multiple shows a week and late night chats at coffee shops. Instead its been replaced with leaving four songs in to a band you’re checking out because you can no longer take the combination of the crowd, the vaping inside, and the amount of back pain you have from standing so long. It’s coming to accept that you have really high standards for seeing a band live and they have to grab you by the throat and get you emotionally invested enough to stay. And music should do that for everyone.

Last Monday when this post went up, it was drizzly and grey. This Monday is set to be in the mid-seventies and mostly sunny. Bi-polar weather much? I hopped on the crazy train and decided to try a juice cleanse for the first (and probably last) time. It’s been tough but I’ve somehow managed to survive. I technically have one day left but considering I was riding my 1100 lb horse today and going to a gym class, the juice was put on the back burner.
