Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 5/29-6/4

I guess Memorial Day weekend means summer is here! I’m spending the weekend in rural Maryland where I’m doing some light DJing at a friend’s wedding. By DJing, I mean I’ve created a playlist to be used in between people singing karaoke. My objective with this project was to create a music mix so banging that no one will want to sing…

Lately it feels like my 2023 top songs playlist is getting a healthy expansion.  One recent addition is the Hozier single, “Francesca” which is doing its job whetting the appetite for more Hozier tunes and gets me particularly excited about next week’s intimate show at the Troubadour.

Other top picks include Mandy Moore w/ Taylor Goldsmith at the Hotel Cafe and Matilda Mann at the Moroccan Lounge.

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 5/22-5/28

I think I’ve been seeing/listening to too many pop artists lately. They all just kind of blend together after a while and I’m left uninspired. I felt saved this weekend absorbing recent albums from grandson (I Love You, I’m Trying) and The Milk Carton Kids (I Only See the Moon). I’m not sure I’d recommend pairing the two albums together, but one thing they have in common is that neither will easily blend in with what is considered popular music today (and this is a good thing).

Hopefully the trend of inspired music will continue into next week where we’ve got shows from Meg Myers (w/ Weathers), The Stone Foxes, a very (very) busy Thursday night, and more:
