Today I’ll be getting on a cruise ship in Sydney, Australia heading out for an adventure that largely centers around New Zealand and all things Lord of The Rings! My only issue with this trip is that I won’t be spending many evenings on land going to check out the local music scene.  

Back in LA, we have a can’t miss event Saturday night celebrating the 10^th Anniversary of Monday Monday at the Hotel Cafe. This will be quite the event with so many amazing artists filling both stages.

I did something for the first time last week – hot yoga.  It wasn’t the highlight of my week, but I can add it to the list of life experiences. The highlight of my week happened at The Venice West when Glen Phillips brought Garrison Starr up to the stage to cover Garrison’s “Sit with Me Tonight”. Now I can’t get the song out of my head!

Next week, we’ve got a very busy Monday night. The Franklin Electric, who I’ve been wanting to see for years, finally come to LA, Evan + Zane will surely dazzle at the Troubadour, and Garrison Starr is part of a mostly Canadian line-up at Monday Monday.

I am still rocking to the tunes of Phantom Planet after seeing them blow the roof off a small club last week. I missed their last show which celebrated the 20-year anniversary of their breakout album, The Guest, and as much as I wanted to hear alllll of those songs, I found myself rather into the newer offerings from their 2020 album, Devastator. The show was the perfect combination of nostalgia bombs and new discoveries and suggested that one of my fave bands from the early/mid 00’s is still relevant to my current life (something I wish I could say more).

Next week, the holiday shows begin with Buzz Bands Holiday Happening and KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas, but I am also looking forward to a dance party with Mothe and a wintertime installment of Coffee Shop Arena Rock at the Hotel Cafe (the lineup looks amazing!).
