Happy Monday Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, mine was bittersweet. I had a wonderful time partaking in the dance show at MiraCosta this semester and really enjoyed being around all the people who were a part of the show. It was a super fun experience but man, I’m tired. Today is a recovery day for me after having to book it out to the barn. The heat and Santa Ana winds are back. Goody. And I mean that sarcastically. I hate the wind.

Anyway, this week is kind of light except for Thursday which gives you a slew of options to choose from.

Last week I only managed to make it out to watch a bunch of friends play Willie Nelson covers all night long. The rest of my week was filled with trying to not get blown away by the insane winds we had (thank you Santa Ana winds) for those 3 days, and trips to the vet for my dog who is currently anemic and we don’t yet know why. This week promises to be super busy as we go into tech and final dress for the dance show which is Thursday to Sunday so getting out to any show seems unlikely. This means you have to go out for me!

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 4/28-5/4

Last week was a rather crazy one for me and it’s only ramping up from here. I’m in a dance show at school and we have been having rehearsal and yesterday was dry tech where we run through the pieces. Thankfully my piece was up early enough that I could leave after and make it down to Soma for the Augustana show. What a joy that show was! It’s one of those show that just makes your soul happy. From there, I bounced over to U-31 to catch Brother Grimm before calling it a night. I’m really happy I have some time left to get out and enjoy some music to get away from the dance show madness.

Tonight I’m getting out again to see a bunch of great local musicians do Willie Nelson covers. I’m not much of a cover band gal, but when it involves people from bands like Get Back Loretta, The Silent Comedy, Dead Feather Moon, Deadly Birds, and more, I think I can make an exception.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and enjoyable Sunday yesterday. I myself spent it in recovery mode after going to three shows this week! Recovery for me included Mexican food, Netflix, napping, and some Chinese food. All in all, a great lazy Sunday. I do wish I had some kind of marshmallow goodness to munch on though.

Anyways, I hope you have rested up because this week is jam packed full of goodness! Apparently, Sunday is the night to be out with about nine different acts playing that evening. Well, Coachella weekend 1 is over and I saw a slew of photos from it on my Facebook feed. However, Coachella is coming to us this week because the bands need something to do between weekends, right? So if you didn’t get tickets to Coachella this year, don’t worry because we have the likes of Cage the Elephant, Broken Bells, City and Color, Mogwai, Bonobo, Broken Bells, Bryan Ferry, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and Bear Hands here to play some shows. If you’re anti-Coachella and that establishment, don’t fret. There is still a lot of great non-Coachella related bands to see like Semi Precious Weapons, Rags and Ribbons, and The Midnight Pine. I can’t believe April is already on our doorstep. Wasn’t it just Halloween? I mean, I know I keep saying things like that, but I’m still having a hard time believing it. But I did make it out on Friday night for Transfer at the Casbah. Still amazing and their new material is fantastic. It had been awhile since I had seen them but I really enjoyed myself on Friday.
