It’s an I’m With Her kinda of week. If you’ve been enjoying the supergroup’s folktastic new album, Wild and Clear and Blue (like I have), you can catch the trio doing a small set with interview at the Grammy Museum or a full set outdoors at the Ford, both this week. Sticking close to that musical vein, you can also experience Lucinda Williams, Carbon Leaf, Ireland’s Amble, Stephen Kellogg and more playing various places around town.

I stumbled across a new album from an old band love, Atomic Tom last week. The Way It Never Was has dominated my listening space along with new music from The K’s, Tom Grennan, and the ever-present Yungblud. The Brooklyn-based band doesn’t seem to have any west coast shows booked, but I hope that changes soon. 

We do have at least one New Yorker, Coyle Girelli, on the list for next week. I’m also looking forward to Thursday night with a free Bad Suns mini-set followed by a rock show from current LA faves, Bruvvy.

I was blown away by the response to The Wrecks this weekend at the Wiltern. The band has come a long way in the last decade and to see a room that large full of love and dancing was quite remarkable…I think everyone got a bit teary-eyed. The entire evening felt like a turning point for my beloved band and I can’t wait to see where they go from here!

As for where I’m going, out to find a new rock band to follow around I suppose.  I’ve got high hopes for Bruvvy who play Gold-Diggers Saturday night, but show pick of the week goes to Arizona songsmith Wheelwright, in town coming off a recently released new album that must be heard live.
