Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 2/22-2/28

I’m happy the weather has decided to turn back to “winter” for the time being. It’s chilly again which is really nice instead of it being 80 something degrees in February! So, I’m going to enjoy this cool weather while it lasts. Heat is for summer time and we are at least 4 months away. Slow your roll weather…

Sadly, I didn’t make it out this week to see anything. I’m super bummed about missing Get Back Loretta on Saturday but I was just too darn tired to get off the couch. Hopefully I will manage something this week. And we have lots to choose from! Wheeeeee!!!

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet up with alumna from my college.  It’s been almost ten years (!?!) since I graduated and chatting with these women was a wonderful reminder of where I come from…made me feel far less the anomaly.

I learned a valuable lesson yesterday… When ordering delivery on Valentine’s Day, plan to wait much longer than anticipated. It’s okay though, my food finally came and I watched Downton Abbey and a lot of Forensic Files. There was a lot of online searching for a few products too. Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 2/15-2/21

Watching a documentary about the history of sound. It just touched on how an accident with a vacuum tube basically created the rock and roll guitar noise. This is a nice break in a weekend that has consisted largely of playing airplanes with a three year old (read: I’m exhausted!). I was happy to take the long weekend to visit friends in Kansas City, MO where it’s a good 60 degrees colder than LA when I left.  We had lunch today at a cafe where they played Saint Motel so I don’t feel too far from home.

Did you all watch the Superbowl? I did not. I was watching Numb3rs and napping. I did see a bit of Lady Gaga’s National Anthem but I was not concerned enough with any of the teams, commercials, or anything else to spend that much time watching a game. Maybe if I was at a Superbowl Party or something. With pizza. And guacamole. And chips with dip. And… I think I would just eat the entire time!

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 2/8-2/14

Feeling introspective at the moment. I’m not sure what the rest of you were doing these last few hours (something involving a TV and snack foods perhaps), but I was on the phone with my best friend. The call started with tears of sorrow but ended, per usual, with laughter. I think the conversation devolved somewhere in between discussing the relevance of “do-nothingism” and musing over Jesus’ potential bladder control issues in Gethsemane.  Regardless, I’m feeling better about life.

And with that attitude I will approach this week of music trying to think about all the good shows I will see and not the ones I will miss. Yes, this is a week of tough musical choices! Show pick will have to go to UK’s Nothing But Thieves whose already sold out show at The Troubadour is bound to be one for the books. If you’d rather stick to your local rock bands, don’t miss Badflower Thursday night at Lucky Strike in Hollywood.

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 2/1-2/7

I can’t believe February is upon us. I’m kind of happy for it though. January was full of a lot of stress and somewhat major changes and transitions that resulted in a few missed shows because of long days and exhaustion. I did barely get my butt out to see The Silent Comedy at a (over) sold out show at the Casbah on Saturday. If you were there, you know how crazy it was. If you weren’t there…. well it was crazy.

But it’s a brand new month with a whole new array of show opportunities. Wheeeee!
