Kristen’s 2014 Music Mix – Track 3 – Pepper’s Ghost

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

Pepper's Ghost

2014 marks the 10 year anniversary of Pepper’s Ghost’s Shake The Hand That Shook The World. Although the band is no longer together, they still play an important role in my life. When I started DJing for High Voltage Radio, they were one of the first bands I played. When I took a road trip to a college friend’s wedding, Pepper’s Ghost was the playlist. Favorite bands never die.

Kristen’s 2014 Mix – Track 2 – Twin Atlantic

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

Twin Atlantic

I wasn’t sure Twin Atlantic could ever give me an album that came close to 2011’s Free, but this year’s Great Divide lives up to its predecessor. It was the album’s first single, “Heart and Soul” that ultimately made me choose seeing Twin Atlantic at The Troubadour in 2014’s greatest show conflict of the year (something I still don’t want to think about).

Kristen’s 2014 Music Mix – Track 1- The All-American Rejects

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

All-American Rejects

This might as well be my theme song this year. As I being to make preparations for the next stage of my life, the concept of moving along has come to haunt me. I also saw The All-American Rejects acoustic this year…twice! All the energy of their rock shows + incredibly entertaining story-telling.

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 1/12-1/18

I’m fairly certain the weather in San Diego has no been taking it’s meds for bi-polar disorder. I’m listening to the rain which is back again after a few hours break (this was written Sunday night) and contemplating the 80 degree weather we had earlier this week. Seems like it’s having a hard time making up it’s mind. Ah well. This week picks up a bit music wise so you will have to make up your mind about where you want to go. Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 1/5-1/11

I am looking forward to this week and returning to a more normal show schedule. As much as I’ve enjoyed my evening X-Files watching, I’m beginning to hear Mulder and Scully’s voices in my head which might be fine, but they are usually arguing and that isn’t overly pleasant.

January brings with it some fantastic residencies. It’s the last month for seeing Zane Carney at The Hotel Cafe and as a bonus, Josh Kelley will be playing as well each Monday. Tuesday nights we have Leighton Meester at The Hotel Cafe and every Friday, Jimmy Gnecco at The Viper Room. This Friday will be particularly good as 8MM serves as Gnecco’s opener. This week is also a good one to head to The Satellite, as every night has free entry.

Here are the rest of my musical suggestions:

Monday: Josh Kelley and Zane Carney at The Hotel Cafe (8, 9)
ALSO: Sego w/ The Moth & The Flame FREE at Bootleg HiFi (8pm)

Tuesday: Ivory Deville w/ The Dustbowl Revival and more FREE at The Echo (9pm)
ALSO: Leighton Meester at The Hotel Cafe (8pm)
ALSO: Katy Rose FREE at Writer’s Lounge (formally Hemingway’s) (10pm)
ALSO: Maxim Ludwig at Bootleg HiFi (8:45)

Weds: Bernhoft at The Hotel Cafe (9:30)
ALSO: In The Valley Below, The Bulls, Rose’s Pawn Shop, Dr. Doctor FREE at The Satellite (9pm)
ALSO: Kris Angelis at Room 5 (9pm)
