You know, I always try to write this blurb the night before and I inevitably end up deleting it and starting over. Don’t ask me why but one day I will learn to just write it the same morning I post it.

I had a great week last week seeing as how it was my last day of classes and I’m finally free to actually make it out to a show and not be dead tired. Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 12/16-12/22

It’s been a great week of holiday music and parties. Wednesday’s venture to Largo for The Watkins Family Christmas was exactly as magical as I anticipated with the amazing Sara and Sean Watkins performing a Nickel Creek song with Matt Hales (Aqualung) and a surprise appearance by Jackson Browne. Friday night at The Hotel Cafe was another winner. My favorite that night was an acapella holiday song by Javier Dunn accompanied by the likes of Cary Brothers and Pete and J from Harper Blynn.

Moving forward to this week, my show pick is Irontom Monday night at Bardot for It’s a School Night. These guys are headed for big things so if you haven’t seen them yet, here’s your chance. It’s also the time of year for Camp Freddy. I’m looking forward to seeing what surprises the big rockers have in store for us this year.

Yesterday was my last day of dancing at the MiraCosta College dance show. It was a really fun experience but I’m glad it’s over so I can get back to my main squeeze, live music shows! I was really bummed to miss out on some choice shows last week but this week is looking mighty busy as well. And the Christmas party season begins! I’m about to head out the door for The High Voltage Holiday Party at Molly Malone’s. This will be the first of many Holiday show opportunities this week including great events at The Largo, The Roxy, and The Hotel Cafe (always my favorite).

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As per usual, my mom and I made way too much food for just the two of us. It’s ok because that means there are lots of leftovers to nosh on. Is it just me or is the best thing to just put everything together in a saucepan and eat the mishmash? It’s just a bowl of yummy to me.

I’m briefly poking my head out of my writing hibernation to bring you this week’s concert calendar. This wonderfully long weekend has mostly consisted of food, caffeine, and long hours at my computer, but I also made a major push on Holiday gifts (aka my annual music mix) which I’m quite excited about. Speaking of Christmas presents, I’m thinking of getting myself one in the form of a ticket to The Watkins Family Christmas Show at Largo. If anyone would care to join me, let me know!
