Well folks, it’s been a productive week at casa Amanda. I’ve been getting my place cleaned up in preparation for an upcoming procedure. Not to worry, I’ll be back at in a few months but I’ll be mostly stuck at home. I do have a knee scooter to get me around but I won’t be able to drive for 6-8 weeks. I’ve been watching a lot of baseball lately. I’ve also been listening to Mother Mother’s new album, Grief Chapter. Last week worlds collided as Mother Mother’s breakout single “Explode!” appeared as a network’s pre-game pump you up song. This simply confirmed the necessity of seeing the Canadian rockers this week at a newer concert space, The Torch (part of LA Memorial Coliseum).

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 5/27-6/2

The San Diego County Fair kicks off next month and there is some delightful entertainment coming to town. Unfortunately, I might have to miss the fair entirely this year. I’m having a corrective foot surgery at the beginning of the month. It’s not a huge deal but bones take up to 8 weeks to fuse. I’m hoping for a knee scooter so I can get around but it is my right foot, so I can’t drive either. Here’s hoping I don’t go crazy…

My torn-up knee has taken a turn for the worse, causing me to press pause on the busy schedule. The physical therapist says I need to work “with” the pain but not “through” it. I’m hoping I can work with the pain next week starting with some lower key singer songwriter nights at the Troubadour and Hotel Cafe and working up to a one-legged dance party with Red Rum Club. Might be hoping for too much, but it’s good to have goals!
