Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 7/17-7/23

I mentioned my 15-year anniversary last week, spending my first night in LA at the Hotel Cafe where I saw Dan Wilson. Last week, I went back to my favorite venue to celebrate and none other than Dan Wilson was sitting at the bar! I was very excited about this moment that seemingly verified that I’m in the right place…until about 3 hours later when I was on a bus de-escalating a tense situation by getting a punch happy ex-con to talk about restaurant recommendations in her hometown…ah, LA…

I am celebrating an anniversary this week – 15 years of going to the Hotel Cafe! My first night living in Los Angeles, I went to the Hotel Cafe to see The Kin and Dan Wilson and 15 years later, it’s still my favorite place to be! In honor of the anniversary, I’ll be heading to the venue a few times this week. A last minute decision and a well timed purchase from Seat Geek got me to the Fall Out Boy concert with friends last night. They’ve certainly come a long way in the past 20+ years and their show game speaks volumes. Between multiple set changes which included various backdrops, a giant doberman puppet head, some fun video screens, and lights galore, the query seemed to be, where can we add more fire and pyrotechnics? The answer, more than you would expect from your typical rock show. Nailed it!
