I am very pleased this week with my purchase of the Club Pass for the Hollywood Palladium. By the end of this week, I could very well make it to the Palladium 6 times in 8 days. Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 10/31-11/6

As another Rocktober comes to a close, I’d like to think that I really understood the assignment catching nearly 80 bands this month, most of them solidly in the rock genre. Moments that really stood out include my first Enter Shikari experience, the celebration of Dear Boy’s first full length album, and revisiting my youth at the When We Were Young festival. Also, I must give a special shoutout to Royal & The Serpent who kept popping up on various stages, often as a featured artist, making me more excited for her show at the Troubadour next month.

Next week, I’m particularly excited for some of the “small print” artists opening for others, particularly Sydney Sprague and Joe P (formally of Deal Casino).

I might need a few days to recover from seeing alllll the bands at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend. Celebrating emo music from 15-20 years ago means mostly male-fronted bands, but the festival did a service to all by including some more contemporary female-fronted rock bands, a couple of which play LA this week (Nessa Barrett, PVRIS). Next week we also have the big Dear Boy album release and Joe P (formally of Deal Casino) opening for Australia’s Spacey Jane.

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 10/17-10/23

The biggest highlight and disappointment of my week is that I will be headed to Vegas for the When We Were Young Fest by way of LA to see You Me At Six. It’s a highlight because… well, have you seen the lineup? I’ll be mentally back in 2010, reliving my peak emo days. It’s a disappointment because it means missing The Silent Comedy’s last show of the year at the Belly Up with Little Hurricane. If I could teleport or split myself in half, this is one of those instances where I would do it. Alas, we are not there yet. If you’re not at the fest, I highly recommend that show as well as these others…
