Tomorrow begins what has traditionally been my favorite week of the year, music week at SXSW! I’ll be in Austin, TX all week taking in as many new bands as I can possibly squeeze in, walking around the city until my feet fall off.  If you’re in LA, we’ve got some opportunities for you to see a few of the same bands without walking miles and miles. Self Esteem, Perfume Genius, Leif Vollebekk and the Lathums will all be in LA as well as Austin next week so why don’t you check them out and we can compare notes!

We are in the final countdown to SXSW 2022 and my schedule is starting to emerge. The greatest challenge of the week is always trying to fit in all the artists I want to check out. Fortunately, a few of them are making appearances in Los Angeles this week; Annika Bennett, Forester, and LA’s own rockers, Balto are all at the top of my list! Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 3/7-3/13

Last night was spent watching Garth Brooks in the intermittent rain at Petco Park. Garth was truly magic and a definite bucket list artist for me. If I’m being honest, despite him playing 360 degrees in the stadium (even his drummer faced different ways for different songs), his lighting could’ve been so much cooler. Regardless, I his infectious energy and love for San Diego was something lovely to come away with, especially with the heaviness of the world and life. I’m glad I got the opportunity to watch a legend!

I definitely had a week. I had a week such where I has every single intention of seeing Kimmi Bitter at the Belly Up on Wednesday but I spent the entire day exhausted and woke up Thursday realizing I had completely missed the show the night before. Yeah, it was that kind of week. The bright spot of my week was getting back on my horse for a test ride to see how I felt. I might’ve come home, had lunch, and crashed and burned but I was completely pain free!! Progress!

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 2/21-2/27

After a big music week, I’m enjoying a low-key long weekend minding a puppy. Things the puppy likes: sticks, awkwardly sleeping on top of me, The Mandalorian (specifically The Child), food (her food, my food, random refuse on the street that looks vaguely like food) and walking up the steps to strangers’ front doors. Things the puppy does not like: people eating, people sleeping, people sitting on their balconies or standing on the sidewalks (particularly in groups), being left alone (even for a few minutes), and oversized traffic cones.  It’s been a delightful weekend, but I do look forward to returning to a life where going to the bathroom is not a big event.

I’m also looking forward to some musical delights next week including Grandson, Wheelwright, and a special performance from Dashboard Confessional celebrating new music at the Troubadour.
