This early post comes to you from sunny LA. I drove up here Friday for a mini vacation, show, and some quality hang out time. Sadly, I return home later today and have some serious homework to catch up on but the fun times here are well worth it. San Diego gets the pleasure of kicking off the Muse Tour with Band of Skulls at Valley View Casino Center tomorrow night. What a show that will be! It’s almost noon on Monday and I’m still in bed. Not for much longer though. I officially go back to tomorrow because apparently I like to torture myself. I just had what you might call a ‘last hurrah’ at Disneyland yesterday after being a part of A Trolley Show featuring one of our favorite bands Youngblood Hawke. I guess my point is to please excuse this ramble because my brain still isn’t fully functional.

Hello my SD Music Folks! This early post comes at you from the wonderful city of New York. Kristen and I ended up here after another one of our wonderful east coast adventures. We started in Philly for a reunion show and ended up catching 3 shows in one night! But that is really her story to share. We then trekked over to New York to see Spiderman: Turn off the Dark on Broadway. It was so lovely to see the Carney guys again. Even if it’s on a different kind of stage. Love them!

I can tell you that it is bitterly cold outside. Like nothing I have ever experienced. It’s been averaging about 20 degrees on our trip. Gah!

New Band Love: Civil Twilight

Just got back from The Hotel Cafe. Went to go see Matthew Jordan, a fantastic piano-playing singer-songwriter who was especially brillant tonight when he busted out this amazing arrangment of “Smooth Criminal“. After Matthew, I stuck around to see Civil Twilight and completely fell in love. I had known about these guys for awhile thanks to an ITunes free download, but their self-titled debut CD was only very recently released in the states. The trio is actually from South Africa which makes this just another in a string of bands I’ve fallen for recently that are based overseas…I’m wondering if this is some sort of sign…or perhaps a cruel joke?

Anyway, I just had to share. They took the entire audience at The Hotel Cafe to another place this evening  and I cannot wait to go on that journey with them again. Fortunately, they are playing again Saturday at Voyeur in West Hollywood then on Sunday down near San Diego at The Loft at UCSD. Then they are off on a mini tour of the south (check their website for exact places and dates). Don’t miss out!
