Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 5/5-5/11

Last week I only managed to make it out to watch a bunch of friends play Willie Nelson covers all night long. The rest of my week was filled with trying to not get blown away by the insane winds we had (thank you Santa Ana winds) for those 3 days, and trips to the vet for my dog who is currently anemic and we don’t yet know why. This week promises to be super busy as we go into tech and final dress for the dance show which is Thursday to Sunday so getting out to any show seems unlikely. This means you have to go out for me!

There’s nothing like the bliss that comes from seeing a band you love take the stage and kick some ass. What’s rough to deal with is the comedown from the show high and the subsequent withdrawals that begin to take place. Such has been my Monday after last week which was filled with Semi Precious Weapons kicking ass at the Belly Up and Neon Trees and The Active Set rocking out at a high school stadium in Murrieta. Bliss! We have some great bands in town this week like Cyndi Lauper at Humphreys, Dead Feather Moon and The Tilt at the Del Mar Rock On stage, and Free Energy at the Casbah on Sunday. More below!

It’s SXSW time! I will be on a plane tomorrow morning and will be in Austin by the evening. I’m a little sad to not be doing the cross country drive but it will be a nice change of pace. This somewhat delayed calendar post is due to the fact that I’ve been out late the past two nights in a row. In fact, I just got home. What was I doing? Ok, I’ll tell you… I’ve been at Disneyland and California Adventure. Yesterday was spent hanging with a friend from AZ I hadn’t seen in awhile and wouldn’t see for awhile. Tonight, was all about Mad T Party for me. Either way, I’m a little sore from all the walking and dancing.
