Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 9/19-9/25

This fall, High Voltage Magazine is coming back with print issues. The cover artist is Fitz & The Tantrums and inside there are interviews, playlists, reviews for new albums and more! I have the privilege of being involved with this project and I’m really excited about it. To raise some funds for the first issue, we have been running a Pledge Music Campaign with part of the proceeds going to The George Harrison Fund for UNICEF.

We have collected rare and unreleased tracks from artists such as The Silent Comedy, Taylor Locke and The Roughs, Billy Morrison, Hurricane Bells, and more. These songs form a High Voltage compilation album that can be obtained at our basic pledge value of $10. At other levels you can pledge to receive items such as a signed copy of our fall issue, tickets to a show of your choice at select venues, or the chance to be a writer for a day for www.iamhighvoltage.com.

Back in LA after driving straight through the night from Austin. Forgive me if this email seems a bit incoherent or incomplete at any point. I’m slightly delirious from lack of sleep. I went straight to work after getting into town and have been going ever since. I don’t really recall the last time I slept…  The horrible thing is, I really want to go to Bardot tonight for It’s A School Night. James Walsh from Starsailor is singing along with Teddy Thompson and a special surprise guest. And it’s FREE with RSVP. I know I shouldn’t but the pull is so strong.

Just got back from a crazy evening of awesomeness and feeling grateful for so many things: My friends for kicking me out the door and keeping me company all night, The Viper Room simply for being there, Duke’s for having some fairly amazing cuisine, my new friends for sharing some fun stories and being crazy cool, and most importantly, Dead Sara, my new band love that blew my MIND. Honestly I still feel like it should be March. The last two months were so incredibly busy, they just flew right by. And now, all of a sudden, I’m facing end of quarter deadlines and am freaking out juuuust a tad. And looking at my June calendar it seems that this month won’t be any less busy. We’ve actually got some very exciting things coming up for the website, so stay tuned for that. But in the meantime, let’s get this month started off right with a great line-up of music.
