I’m sensing another shift in the live stream culture. We went from random Instagram pop ups and big fundraisers filmed in the artists’ homes to a somewhat reoccurring schedule of online tours and Facebook or YouTube gigs (with slowing improving technology).  Now, I’m seeing an uptick in the staged full band shows filmed at a studio or venue.  Although none of this really satisfies my cravings, I enjoy watching the evolution of this new normal and I’m glad that music is still finding its way out there.  Reading news stories about how venues are closing down for good or speculating that live shows with audiences won’t come back until 2022 can feel a bit defeating, but I hope everyone is hanging in and appreciates my attempts to find the choice virtual events.

My favorites from last week include the first Jared & The Mill full band set, Tony Lucca doing some TFDI covers (gosh I miss Matt Duke!) and getting to check China Bears off my “to see” list (go check out their song, “Sunday”).

Next week will be another odd one for me. It’s San Diego Comic Con time and this year will most certainly be unlike any other I’ve experienced. I’m trying to keep an open mind but I can’t imagine how the magic and camaraderie and general craziness of SDCC could possibly be captured in their virtual experience.
