Next week we’ve got some top tier nostalgia shows, nostalgia for ten years ago! 2011/12 was when I was raving about the Head and the Heart’s SXSW performance in a bicycle shop, spending time weekly with Semi Precious Weapons (Justin Tranter’s band), Andy Clockwise was a must-see event and Warpaint was still riding high off their debut album. Those were good years!
Mostly importantly, a new festival was just getting started in the Echo Park area called Echo Park Rising. This fest ended up being one of the best for discovering local music as well as the shops and restaurants that pepper the area which became one of my go-to neighborhoods. Echo Park Rising is coming back this year as Echo Farce Rising. It’s a bit of a reduced format, but still a great opportunity to check out some local bands.
