I opted out of any 4^th of July revelry this year although I was sad to turn down an opportunity to see Smashing Pumpkins, Chris Stapleton, and Queen Latifah and I did miss my traditional walk along the beach watching fireworks up and down the coast…

Musically (or musically adjacent?), I think what stuck with me most from last week’s showgoing was a moment during the Whale Songz set when Annika Bennett & Olivia Barton were discussing the origins of a song that reflects the moment along the path of any strong female friendship when the women confide in each other their respective history of sexual assault/abuse.
