This past week was pretty much what I needed but I only just finished unpacking from Bottlerock. Oops. There’s a massive amount of laundry still with my name on it in bold print. Thankfully, I’m making progress with the regular life stuff. This week I have a show at the Belly Up but nothing else major on the list. Hopefully, I can get that laundry finished!

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 6/-11- 6/17

Last week was very much an I Love LA kind of week.  There was the opportunity to see The Record Company play at The Troubadour (still wrapping my mind around the fact that it was the band’s first time playing that venue), the crazy Hollywood event celebrating the music of Bones, the packed club where I saw Matt Maeson for the third time in two months, and the premiere of the Sense8 finale which included a surprise sing-along of the 4 Non Blonde’s “What’s Up” featuring Linda Perry herself.  I can’t imagine all of that being possible in many other cities…

Next week, the LA fun continues with the arrival of Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls and a special High Voltage sponsored game night Monday at Scum & Villainy Cantina in Hollywood.

I’m struggling this week with passing deadlines and a seemingly endless to do list. It doesn’t help that everything I attempt seems to be stymied in some way.  The Ticketfly hack did its part to slow down any concert-related research and reporting.  I don’t think I realized how many venue websites relied on Ticketfly until suddenly they were all down!

In the vein of more uplifting reports, I hope everyone made it to at least one of The Struts Roxy residency shows last week because WOW…that band puts on a show!  I wish more bands would do multi-night gigs in smaller venues.  I fully support that concept.  One of the special guests the night I was there was Barns Courtney who you can catch this week at The Wiltern opening for The Kooks.  Other calendar highlights include Matt Maeson at The Echo and the return of Coyle Girelli (The Chevin) to The Hotel Cafe.

I had a very busy but extremely fun weekend filled with out of town friends, a birthday karaoke party, and Emo Night Brooklyn. I’m still recovering and I have to hurry before I head out of town for Bottlerock this weekend in Napa. I’ll probably be keeping a low profile for the part of the week I’m here.
