Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 2/24-3/2

On my recent trip to Tokyo, I enjoyed sampling the diverse music scene, but there was one band I was particularly excited to see that the (somewhat frustrating) rules of Japanese ticket-buying prevented me from getting access to. I am putting a bit of a Band-Aid on that wound tonight as said band, Holding Absence, are opening for The Plot in You at the Fonda.

Between this show, SXSW prep, and some promising events on the horizon (including Winona Fighter and The Vices), the mood is one of excitement for this week.

I saw something recently that said, “January was such a year of a month that no one has noticed February is almost gone.” I’m sure it doesn’t help that February is a shorter month than all the rest but dang of that meme wasn’t spot on. I know my problem was catching a cold and trying to right my body clock but I didn’t think I was down for that long… Regardless, there’s much to do and see this week in San Diego. Wednesday in particular is kinda rude with the Almost Monday, Grizfolk, and Shane Hall conflict but there’s a lot of stuff to keep us all occupied and dancing. Maybe we’ll dance ourselves into March…

With all of the terrible (and terrifying) news coming through these days, I’m glad there are some positive music headlines shining through. The FireAid Benefit Concert and stream including the Nirvana reunion highlighted how impactful music and musicians can be in these times.
