This weekend is the San Diego Music Thing which is a very exciting event to attend! I like to equate it to a very mini version of SXSW (mainly around North Park) but we get a lot of exciting acts that play including but not limited to Sad Robot, Queen Caveat, Josh Damigo, Dr. Seahorse, Deadly Birds (last show), Little Dove, The Moth and the Flame, Dead Feather Moon, Barcelona, Meg Myers, The Griswolds, Andrew Belle, Fenech-Soler just to name a few. Happy Labor Day! I’ll be spending my day (once I’m finished with this) at the Natural History Museum with my mom to catch the Real Pirates exhibit before it closes down tomorrow. I’m pretty excited as I haven’t been since they had the exhibit on the history of the horse and that was sometime last year I think. It’s always nice to take in some culture. Also, next week is the San Diego Music Thing which is pretty fun. It’s our own mini SXSW here in SD.

The good news is that I finally have a (semi) working computer again! Now I have a new computer, a new phone, and a new place to live. All the new-ness is taking some adjustment and I’m not running as efficiently as I am accustomed to. I’ve let so many things just slip past and I apologize to anyone whose email, phone call, or text I’ve neglected. I’m sure I’ll be up and running at full speed soon enough. In the meantime, I’m doing my best to keep on top of all the noteworthy musical events. Next week we’ve got some good ones. I’m particularly excited about the return of 1/3 of Leogun to Los Angeles. This trio is one of my fave UK acts and seeing singer Tommy Smith at The Viper Room on Thursday is a can’t miss in my book!

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 8/18-8/24

It’s back to school week for me. I mean, I know I already graduated and stuff but I feel like there is just still so much to learn! This semester I’m taking modern dance, astronomy, and art (I will learn how to draw!). I’m pretty excited. There’s another junior college with a lot more stuff closer to home but I was a little late applying so I think I’ll have to wait till next semester before I can take anything there. Oh well.

This week also includes my birthday. I have no grand plans because it’s on a Wednesday and honestly, once you hot a certain age, it’s not that big of a deal anymore. I guess I’ll be celebrating Friday at the track for the Silent Comedy, Transfer, Vokab Company show. Come say hi and give me a hug.
