Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 9/29-10/5

It’s an I’m With Her kinda of week. If you’ve been enjoying the supergroup’s folktastic new album, Wild and Clear and Blue (like I have), you can catch the trio doing a small set with interview at the Grammy Museum or a full set outdoors at the Ford, both this week. Sticking close to that musical vein, you can also experience Lucinda Williams, Carbon Leaf, Ireland’s Amble, Stephen Kellogg and more playing various places around town.

If you’d like to rock it up a bit, I’d recommend Dice who come all the way from Australia to play at the Echo Friday night.

Last week, I managed a near complete week with each night feeling very different from the one before. This was largely due to the tone of the audience. From the casual intensity of the CMAT crowd and the fight-ready drunks at Max McNown to the kind swayers at Billie Martin and artsy headbangers at Rocknite LA, it was made very clear that, while not all music fans are the same, the same type seem to find each other via their taste in music.

Let’s see what kind of crowds we can commune with this week. Top picks for me include Wheelwright, Carolina Liar, and the return of Jay Nash to the Hotel Cafe.
