After 5 weeks in the UK, I celebrated my Stateside return this weekend with, of course, a tea party! I was lamenting to my friends about how all the rising bands that I’m excited about are overseas and someone asked when they are all coming to LA. In looking at this week’s calendar, we’ve got several coming this week! I must give a shout out to The Wrecks whose new album, Sonder, came out last week. It feels like I’ve been listening to nothing but music from the UK so it’s nice to have my attention turned to exciting local fair (especially as the band is in the middle of a tour that I hope to catch a few dates of). Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 6/13-6/19

I’m finally home after being gone for 2.5 weeks. What was one of the first things I did when I got home? I went to a show of course! Actually, a friend had an extra ticket to see Dean Lewis at the Observatory in North Park and I happily attended! The show was great but slightly marred by the rudest woman I’ve ever had the displeasure of asking to hush or move. Why is it so hard to be friendly and courteous? Sigh.

After over a month away, I’m back in Los Angeles! My final week in the UK included two helpings of the You Me at Six Sinners Never Sleep anniversary tour (which also included The Hunna!). There was also some time spent in Yorkshire, Oxford, and The WB Studios.

I’ve had an amazing amount of energy to do things these past six weeks (while also working), so hopefully I’ll have the energy to get out some this week, especially to see Annie DiRusso, Dean Lewis, and G Flip.

Greetings from Manchester! Kristen and I just finished at the Neighborhood Weekender Festival where we saw the likes of James Bay, Gayle, Red Rum Club, The Academic, Michael Aldag, Oliver Keane, Pale Waves, The Amazons, Starsailor, and more. Tomorrow brings us to see Memorial before we head to Leeds for the main reason for my trip over here, You Me At Six.

Its’ the 10-year anniversary of “Sinners Never Sleep” they have two shows to celebrate, one in Leeds and one in Hatfield. For some reason, they’ve been stuck on shuffle/repeat for literal months. Super excited to see them live again and this time, in their home country! Let’s see what I’ll be missing out on.

Usually, Memorial Day Weekend finds me in Napa at the BottleRock Music Festival, but this year I’m at a different fest, Neighbourhood Weekender in Warrington, UK. It was a bit smaller and full of young folk wearing bucket hats, but the music was a stellar combination of exciting new artists (Michael Aldag, The Royston Club, Pixey) and established favorites (James Bay, Starsailor, Razorlight). I loved seeing massive crowds sing along with every song for bands like Red Rum Club, Blossoms, and Tom Grennan. This would not be happening back home…
