Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 8/11-8/17

I stumbled across a new album from an old band love, Atomic Tom last week. The Way It Never Was has dominated my listening space along with new music from The K’s, Tom Grennan, and the ever-present Yungblud. The Brooklyn-based band doesn’t seem to have any west coast shows booked, but I hope that changes soon.

We do have at least one New Yorker, Coyle Girelli, on the list for next week. I’m also looking forward to Thursday night with a free Bad Suns mini-set followed by a rock show from current LA faves, Bruvvy.

This past week included a quick jaunt up to La La Land for The Summer Set show at The Roxy. They played their new record in its entirety front to back and after a brief intermission, played some of their greatest hits. It was such a fun and well done show!! Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 8/4-8/10

I’d like give a shout out to The Summer Set for really doing a record release right. The new album, Meet Me At The Record Store, comes out August 15^th, but last week they performed the whole thing for a very pumped up crowd at The Roxy. It was an absolute delight to hear new songs live for the first time in a room full of fans. The band also played a second set full of more familiar fare and hosted a pop-up shop outside the venue where anyone could purchase the new album and additional merch. Well done!

Next week, there are a surprising number of larger venue shows I might have to look into, but I’m most looking forward to a few rising Brit artists Olivia Dean and Wunderhorse at The Fonda.
