I had a very equine filled weekend which resulted in a pretty hard nap around 7pm as a quick reboot but I’m not sure I’m entirely all here. I am looking forward to some shows this week and getting to our local fair for some music and food. Oh, and this is coming to you from my new laptop as mine decided to completely die this week. I’ve never had one die in my lap before so that was a new experience. I’m starting to ramble so I’m just going to get on with the show list…

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 6/3-6/9

This week’s concert calendar is brought to you by the soundtrack of a film, Balance, Not Symmetry.  The film will premiere later this month at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. The soundtrack is entirely Biffy Clyro. That’s right, we’ve basically got a new Biffy Clyro album!  This past week was one of those put on the headphones and blast the very loud and aggressive music kind of week which is how I happily stumbled upon this new offering from my favorite Scottish trio.

Next week brings more tempting shows. I’m particularly excited about Friday night at The Hotel Cafe when Tim Jones (Truth & Salvage Co.) brings his Nashville-based group, Whiskey Wolves of the West, and a few friends that were formerly staples of my LA music life.  We’re going to party like it’s 2009!

Day 3 of the Bottlerock Music Festival is underway.  The weekend has provided me with a lovely mix of artists including Neon Trees, Anderson East, Imagine Dragons, Against Me! and Sir Sly.  For me today is Gang of Youths day, but it will be nice to see Mumford & Sons again (today’s actual headliner).

Tonight is night 2 of back to back Irontom (w/ The Filthy Souls and The Unlikely Candidates).  Apparently, there is some concern that tonight’s show at The Bootleg will be lightly attended due to some television show.  To which I say there is plenty of time to watch your show and THEN head to the Bootleg!

This week is a short one for me as I’m heading to Napa for The Bottlerock Music Festival.  Before I go, I’m looking forward to Jared & The Mill Wednesday night at the Moroccan Lounge.
