Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 9/2-9/8

This calendar post is coming to you a little late for a few reasons. Reason 1: Spent all day yesterday cleaning out and reorganizing my tack shed at the barn which made getting up at a decent hour this morning a little difficult. Reason 2: On the way to the barn this morning a beautiful Siberian husky had decided to cross a busy street on it’s own and stop traffic. Fortunately, the dog stopped right at our truck, we picked it up, and proceeded to look for the owner since it didn’t have a collar. Thankfully, we found the owner in less than 20 minutes and did a good deed for the day. However, that meant getting to the barn even later so….. yeah.

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 7/15-7/21

This is one of my favorite weeks of the year in San Diego because it’s Comic Con time! I know that doesn’t seem to have much to do with music but with all the free events downtown and special pop up shows, you don’t have to have a badge. Rumor has it that Metallica will be playing a secret show sometime this weekend which is pretty cool. Also, The Silent Comedy will be playing at the Vikings off site on Saturday at 6pm. Now, those are the only events I know about, but I know there will be a lot more music related activities happening. After my 3 day show binge this past weekend, I don’t know how I’m going to be able to keep up with everything!

In case you aren’t going to Comic Con, there are lots of other music delights to tickle your fancy.

There’s nothing like the bliss that comes from seeing a band you love take the stage and kick some ass. What’s rough to deal with is the comedown from the show high and the subsequent withdrawals that begin to take place. Such has been my Monday after last week which was filled with Semi Precious Weapons kicking ass at the Belly Up and Neon Trees and The Active Set rocking out at a high school stadium in Murrieta. Well the holidays are knocking at our doors and it seems like we were just having some summer fun. I can tell you that the holidays bring wonderful holiday shows to our lovely San Diego area. I myself was part of the media crew for 91X and was at Wrex the Halls both days. When I wasn’t shooting some video or stills, I was watching bands like Cage the Elephant (my personal fav), Florence + The Machine (from the side sage!), Naked and Famous, Mutemath (headstand on a piano just because), Blink 182 (Travis Barker is amazing!!), Pennywise, Switchfoot (super fun), Death Cab for Cutie (watched Ben Gibbard do a drum breakdown from side stage), and soooo many more bands! It was wonderful and magical as always. Never thought I would have the opportunity to do such great things!
