Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 10/1-10/7

Too much. There is just too much going on this week. I could live at The Wiltern and see Ed Sheeran, Foxy Shazam, The Head and The Heart and Jason Mraz all in one week! It’s also a good week to be on the East Side for one of the most fun (and most affordable) music festivals, Filter’s Culture Collide (http://culturecollide.com/). There are some out of country bands playing I’ve been wanting to see for years! And Let’s not forget the usual amount of greatness featured at The Hotel Cafe…the start of October residencies from Harper Blynn and The Young Romans, an intimate Laura Marling show. I could live at that venue as well. Even considering all of that, my show pick for the week would have to be The Milk Carton Kids Thursday night at Largo. If you’ve ever seen this captivating duo, you’d know why.

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 4/30-5/6

This week has been all about paper reading/writing…not a lot of music listening…although there has been some Veronica Mars watching and that show has an excellent soundtrack. Also, I did make it out to The Wiltern Friday night for Ingrid Michaelson. I am a big fan of her latest album, Human Again and, as I anticipated, the new songs translated quite well to an exciting live show. Plus, LMN faves Harper Blynn opened and they are always a treat.

Speaking of the NYC-based band, Harper Blynn are playing a show at The Hotel Cafe Tuesday night that will be part of a live recording. I imagine this will be a particularly good one. That’s just the start of all the great shows happening in LA this week. Here are my recommendations:

I think I just about holiday-partied myself out last week…but by the end of The Hotel Cafe Christmas party last night even I was beginning to feel some holiday cheer! Now there is just one more week of frenetic deadlines and important meetings at work before I get some time off (to catch up on more work! Yay!). To help get me through, there is the music.
