In order to escape the brutal heat of last week, I escaped to the desert. I know that doesn’t make too much sense, but honestly the 100+ degrees of the desert is much more comfortable than the heat of my house in LA. Saturday was the Bite of Las Vegas festival where I got to see a number of great bands including NEEDTOBREATHE and Lifehouse (surprisingly, my first Lifehouse show). Today was a bit of an adventure through NV, AZ, and UT. I hiked a canyon, visited a ghost town, sampled bumbleberry pie, and witnessed a thunderstorm. I always find this part of the country quite humbling.
Of course, whenever I step away from LA, I start aching to get back. Where else can you see such great music every night of the week? This week, I am most looking forward to Carbon Leaf playing The Mint Wednesday night. These guys don’t get to LA that often, so don’t miss out.
