As a research scientist and live music enthusiast, my worlds collided last week when The Gibson Showroom hosted an event supporting research in women’s health. Representatives from Women Who Rock and the Magee-Womens Research Institute as well as drum queen Sheila E. gave speeches on the importance of women’s health research and how those in music can help as funding for an already under-funded, yet critical area of research becomes increasingly scarce. It warmed my heart to see women from across life genres coming out to support one another (and to help protect our future).
Speaking of cross support, this scientist is very excited to support one of her 2025 most listened to acts, UK rockers Himalayas, as they FINALLY come to Los Angeles Saturday night (supporting The Haunt at the Echo). Give their new album, BAD STAR a listen or, even better, come out to rock with me.
