Happy Labor Day! I’ll be spending it poolside with some friends snacking and just hanging out. Later this week I fly out to Chicago for Riot Fest to see the 10 year reunion of The Academy Is… That’s pretty exciting! Happy Labor Day Weekend! I’m spending my weekend mostly laboring, but might get out to see some friends tomorrow. This past week was painfully show-lite and I’m suffering. I’m currently watching Once in an attempt to temper the withdrawal. I also saw one of my fave bands play in my dream last night if that counts. Aside from the fact that they were performing in a hospital cafeteria, it was a great show!

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 8/31-9/6

Tonight I did the unthinkable and watched the VMAs. When I say “watched” what I mean to say is that I dvr’d the awards and ended up fast forwarding through most of the evening. I didn’t know who the majority of the people were at that event were be them performers or presenters and I’m totally okay with that. I’m going to go back into my little “underground” bubble now because I’ve had enough of this “pop culture” to last me awhile.

August is drawing to a close which means some really exciting events for me in September. First, I’ll be going to Riot Fest for the 10 year anniversary of Almost Here from The Academy Is… which is a band I credit with getting me off the Top 40 radio and exploring other musical possibilities. They haven’t performed together in 5 years so this is super exciting for me. Second is Kaaboo, which is a local permutation of Coachella at the Del Mar Fairgrounds with some super amazing acts, including a lot of LMN favs. Super stoked!

This week is also kind of slow on shows. Sad face.

I had a pretty great birthday this year. It was spent at Disneyland and was pretty magical even for a usual Disney trip. However, I really feel the need to hit the gym hard this week. This heat has been an absolute killer this week! It rendered me nearly incapacitated today when I got home from the barn. I probably could have napped all day but decided that I needed to wake up (however sucky that was) so that I could get up early and attempt to beat the heat again. Speaking of heat, the Creature and The Woods ep release show was absolutely on fire! I’m so glad I made it out to that this past week. My impending musical adventure for the week is some Mad T Party for my birthday. If I’m being honest, after the packed week we just had, this week is looking pretty bleak.
