Kristen’s 2014 Music Mix – Track 20 – Meg Myers

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

20. Meg Myers

Meg Myers, at her best, is a force to be reckoned with. I saw Meg several times this year, my favorite being at the outdoor stage San Diego Music Thing. “Morning After” is a quieter tune off her 2014 Make a Shadow EP, but it still has all the power and emotion that serve as a hallmark of any Meg Myers song.

Kristen’s 2014 Music Mix – Track 19 – Jealousy Curve

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

19. Jealousy Curve

Speaking of college-years, Jealousy Curve was another defining band from that time. In 2014, years after their final show, the band decided to polish up and release their stockpile of unreleased gems on a double disc album called Under the Vermillion Moon Listening to these tunes, some familiar some not, really just makes me miss this band and the good times associated with them. So many memories!

Kristen’s Music Mix – Track 18 – George Stanford

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

18. George Stanford

This year I hit kind of a big one, birthday-wise. My friends at High Voltage threw me a party at The Mint. The whole evening was quite the thrill (there was ice cream cake), but I was particularly excited about the line-up which included George Stanford. Stanford also released a new album this year, Something Better, which included this song, one of my particular favorites.

Kristen’s Music Mix – Track 17 – Carbon Leaf

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

17. Carbon Leaf

This year Carbon Leaf once again decided to break the mold, by re-making their seminal album, Indian Summer in order to reclaim the songs from the label that owned them. When the band came through LA, I was able to sit down with singer, Barry Privett and talk about the album that basically defined my college years. It was thrilling!

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 1/19-1/25

I made it out to a show this week! I went out on Thursday to see some friends play at 207 @ The Hard Rock and it was a lot of fun! I wish the venue wasn’t blow your eardrums out loud but it’s always great to see friends up on stage. And thankfully, I was able to get up in the morning and be a functional adult. Yay! Whats not so yay is that this week is lacking in show opportunities. Sorry my friends.

Kristen’s Music Mix – Track 16 – Emerson Hart

Here it is, the mix of songs that helped define my 2014.

16. Emerson Hart

I’d been hoping to see Emerson Hart and/or his band Tonic for years now. This year, I got to see both! This song was a standout from Emerson’s show at The Hotel Cafe. What’s more is that I got to interview Tonic bassist, Jeff Russo, at Comic Con as part of a panel of film and TV composers where I learned about a different facet of music-making.
