Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 3/21-3/27

I’m back in Los Angeles after a week spent in Austin, TX and I smell like BBQ. SXSW 2022 was everything I’d hoped it would be. I spent time with inspiring people, discovered many exciting new bands and, on my birthday, was at the rail for Dolly Parton who led the room in a round of “Happy Birthday” (not for me, but still, I’m counting it).

More on my new band loves to come, but tonight I’m heading to the Moroccan Lounge to see one of them, Red Rum Club, opening for The Lathums (also great!). Tomorrow begins what has traditionally been my favorite week of the year, music week at SXSW! I’ll be in Austin, TX all week taking in as many new bands as I can possibly squeeze in, walking around the city until my feet fall off.  If you’re in LA, we’ve got some opportunities for you to see a few of the same bands without walking miles and miles. We are in the final countdown to SXSW 2022 and my schedule is starting to emerge. The greatest challenge of the week is always trying to fit in all the artists I want to check out. Last night was spent watching Garth Brooks in the intermittent rain at Petco Park. Garth was truly magic and a definite bucket list artist for me. If I’m being honest, despite him playing 360 degrees in the stadium (even his drummer faced different ways for different songs), his lighting could’ve been so much cooler. Regardless, I his infectious energy and love for San Diego was something lovely to come away with, especially with the heaviness of the world and life. I’m glad I got the opportunity to watch a legend!

I definitely had a week. I had a week such where I has every single intention of seeing Kimmi Bitter at the Belly Up on Wednesday but I spent the entire day exhausted and woke up Thursday realizing I had completely missed the show the night before. Yeah, it was that kind of week. The bright spot of my week was getting back on my horse for a test ride to see how I felt. I might’ve come home, had lunch, and crashed and burned but I was completely pain free!! Progress!
