Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 9/27-10/3

I found myself venturing out more than once this week and subsequently felt like I needed to relax the rest of the week. Ha! I made it out on Monday to check out Plague Vendor and Lowlives who I very much enjoyed. That evening was made better by the lovely woman behind the bar who gave me some earplugs as mine had developed legs and walked off somewhere. Kristen came down for a magical night at Soda Bar with Dear Boy and The Dumes. All in all, a wonderful week music wise for me. We have some standouts this week as we start into Rocktober. Maybe I’ll see you there?

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 9/27-10/3

Last week was full of great live music, catching up with more friends and watching a lot of winning baseball (my team is on a historic 16 game win streak which will certainly carry them into October). This led into a weekend of listening to nothing but the new Badflower album, This is How The World Ends.

With last week’s return of a very jet-lagged Frank Turner, it feels like maybe the country is starting to let in international artists again. This would be incredibly exciting as my list of UK artists I need to see after discovery via livestreams feels quite long and continues to grow with the ongoing weekly Scruff of the Neck stream on Twitch.

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 9/20-9/26

I made it out to one show this week. Per Kristen’s recommendation, I went to Soda Bar to check out Rightfield and they definitely did not disappoint!! Can’t wait for that group to come back around. However, I will say the Soda Bar was far too cold for the amount of bodies inside the room. I have no idea how the 20 somethings were walking around in skirts and tanks when I was in jeans with a sweater and my hood up. Sigh. The perils of age.

I am very excited this week to be seeing Dear Boy at above mentioned music venue. Hopefully, it will be far more crowded and much less cold! Here’s what else is in store…

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 9/20-9/26

As I slowly build back up to my regularly scheduled concert program, I have been reminded of all the amazing things that come with live music and discovering new artists and songs in the live setting. On the eternal quest to see your next favorite band for the first time, however, you end up seeing…a lot of bands that will not become your next favorite. I was reminded of that particular joy last week, but honestly, I’ve never been so happy to sit in the back of the room listening to a band I never need to see again. Next week brings with it some very special shows, including the one and only Frank Turner coming all the way from England to play The Echo and a mid-week trip to San Diego to see Dear Boy! I’m still feeling the glow from the BottleRock Music Festival last weekend. Songs of new faves Valley, JJ Wilde, and Mod Sun have been floating around my head all week. I was lucky enough to catch Mod Sun again at The Roxy in Los Angeles last week and next week, we’ve got another BottleRock artist, BabyJake at the Morroccan Lounge.

Instead of a show pick of the week, next week I’m going to have a venue pick with the Moroccan Lounge. Every single night, it’s a win.
