Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 5/7-5/13

I’m finally getting around to watching the 20/20 piece on Sunset Boulevard featuring Queen Caveat. I’ve already seen me rocking out at The Viper Room and front row at The Roxy. The piece definitely doesn’t put one of my favorite places in LA in the brightest of lights, but I’m certainly craving some Rainbow fries and live music right now.

Not sure if this week will be the week I get out again, but my goodness, there are some amazing shows on the horizon. One of my favorite new artists, Ed Sheeran, is opening for Snow Patrol Tuesday night at The Hollywood Palladium, LMN band love Lakes is at Bootleg Bar Thursday, and former LA resident Jay Nash has shows Weds and Sunday at The Hotel Cafe and Saint Rocke.

I survived the weekend in the desert. I think my body is still recovering from the shock of not being in the 100+ degree weather. I’m hoping to write up a post featuring the highlights of my Coachella experience and some pictures. One of my favorite bands of the weekend was We Are Augustines and they are playing a free show tonight at Bardot for It’s a School Night along with the wonderful LP.

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar 4/9-4/15

Happy Easter everyone! It’s a time for rebirth and I certainly feel like my life is changing. I have this horrible feeling like the decisions I make in the next couple of weeks will have a profound influence on the rest of my life. At Easter mass, I prayed for the strength to make the right choices. Currently I’m failing at boiling some eggs for dying so clearly my prayers have not been heard quite yet.

Friday night, I was lucky enough to be at The Bootleg Theater to watch Garbage “rehearse” for their upcoming tour. Shirley Manson and company are still on top of their game, rocking out a lengthy set list of Garbage hits as well as a couple new tunes from their forthcoming record. I’ve mostly been avoiding the internet today. I am not a fan of this whole April Fool’s business. I do not need to hear about another band breaking up even if it is a joke… There are, however, some good deals going around in celebration of the day. Just got back from the long drive from Austin, TX where we spent a glorious week immersed in the musical insanity that is SXSW. Due to overwhelming exhaustion, I have little sense of space and time but I made a to do list and at the top is “put out this week’s calendar” so here we go! (p.s.
