After all my Warped adventures, it’s been hard to get myself out of the house. I did manage to see Joan Jett and The Blackhearts at the fair this week which was a blast. Did you see my show review? Anyways, I think this week the tides will turn because Nico Vega is coming to town with Crash Kings! In addition to that we have Portugal. Happy Memorial Day to everyone out there. Thank you to all our troops both active and retired for your dedicated service to our country. I know most people opt for having a barbecue on such a holiday but I will be driving to the Happiest Place on Earth for some Disneyland fun. Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 5/13-5/19

This week is going to be a big week for music. Tuesday I am quite excited to see two sets of brothers, The Kin at The Viper Room followed by Hudson Taylor at The Hotel Cafe. Thursday we have another High Voltage event, this time we are back at one of my favorite venues, On the Rox (bar above The Roxy) and we have DJ High Voltage who is going to be spinning all the tunes I want to hear (dance party!). Finally, next weekend, I am thrilled to say I am a participating in one of the more exciting musical events I’ve uncovered, Overture Con (http://overturecon.com/). Saturday and Sunday night, there are some great bands including personal favorites Queen Caveat, Semi Precious Weapons, and Tournament of Hearts. During the daytime, there are special VIP activities to interact with the artists as well as some killer panels. I am on a panel on Sunday entitled “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of being a Super Music Fan”…boy do I have some stories to share about this topic! Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 4/15-4/21

I didn’t get to go to Coachella this weekend and I’m still quite sad about that (especially since Biffy Clyro’s set was not including on the Coachella livestream), BUT I did spend the day yesterday in the Palm Springs/Coachella area so I was able to get in some music and bask in the desert sun. The best part of the experience was the Coachella after-party, Neon Carnival. Carnival games (I won a stuffed black panther named Carly) and rides (Ferris wheel!), plus a raging dance floor where the celeb-filled party kept going into the wee hours. Let’s just say that today, I am tired. Also, I saw Clint Eastwood.

Still, excited about more music this week. I think what I’m most looking forward to (seeing that I failed to get tickets to The El Rey on Tuesday) would be the arrival of UK’s Young Guns to the LA area. Not sure I can make it to Pomona on Friday, but seeing them play acoustic Saturday afternoon at Sound Check Hollywood has the potential for greatness…

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 3/4-3/10

This somewhat delayed calendar post is due to the fact that I’ve been out late the past two nights in a row. In fact, I just got home. What was I doing? Ok, I’ll tell you… I’ve been at Disneyland and California Adventure. Yesterday was spent hanging with a friend from AZ I hadn’t seen in awhile and wouldn’t see for awhile. Tonight, was all about Mad T Party for me. Either way, I’m a little sore from all the walking and dancing. This week doesn’t promise to slow down starting with Free Energy Monday at Soda Bar and ending with The Silent Comedy on Sunday. After that, we will be off to SXSW!
