Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 6/27-7/3

When I’m not going out for music, I spend quite a bit (read: all) of my time in front of my computer. I worked overtime last week to get a couple papers off my desk so yesterday I decided I would take a day AFK so to speak.  I particularly enjoyed some computer-free time glued to a book I’ve been reading that, somewhat ironically, takes place in a world where people live most of their lives plugged into a virtual reality system.  I guess I never got too far away from living via technologies…I tried!

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 6/20-6/26

I spent a very large part of my weekend outdoors and if you’re in Southern California, you might imagine how I feel right now…I’m not sure I can move from the floor of my non air-conditioned room.

In way cooler news, I hope everyone has checked their Ticketmaster accounts to find it full of free ticket vouchers. I’ve got quite a few but of course the shows I really wanted to use them for are ineligible. Hopefully this will change at some point.

In the meantime, I’ll stick to the shows I can get into. If you’re looking for a great free show with rising LA bands, I’d recommend Tuesday night at Harvard & Stone to see Gold Star with The Americans.

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 6/12-6/19

I’m about to do something which I rarely do and that’s get in my car and drive somewhere on a Sunday, a day I usually reserve for mentally and physically preparing for the upcoming week. This whole week has been a bit off kilter (in a good way) so I suppose it’s only fitting.

Next week, I have some big work deadlines I’m dealing with, but I hope to get out to a few choice shows.  I’m especially looking forward to seeing Dark Waves on Tuesday. Show pick of the week, however, will have to be Friday night at The Hi Hat when my friends at Badass Bands Blog will be celebrating their 5 year anniversary with a great line up of bands and what I’m sure will be an awesome crowd of people.

Here’s what else I have in store for you:

Monday: Midnight Faces residency FREE at Bootleg Bar (8:30)
ALSO: Hunnypot Live FREE at The Mint (7pm)
ALSO: Monday Monday at Hotel Cafe second stage (8pm)

Tuesday: Groves residency w/ Dark Waves FREE at The Hi Hat (8pm)
ALSO: Yukon Blonde, The Zolas at The Echo (9pm)
ALSO: Lauren Ruth Ward FREE at Dirty Laundry (10pm)

Weds: Gungor w/ Javier Dunn and more at The Hotel Cafe (7pm)

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 6/6-6/12

SO much to report for next week, so I’ll just jump to that…

Firstly, one of my best concert buddies, Theresa will be in town. We have quite the agenda put together, but her trip revolves around an event she is working Thursday night with SPRAYGUN WAR (Buckcherry side project) who will be throwing an EP release party (check out Theresa’s snazzy press release: https://www.prlog.org/12561069-spraygun-war-debuts-at-forgotten-saints-la.html).

Secondly, I know Saturday is a packed music day, but if you have the time, I’d recommend stopping by NoHo PAC 2-4pm to celebrate the official launch of the non-profit, Music Is Power.  LMN has been a longtime supporter of our friend Ashley and her efforts to combine her skills as a therapist and love of music to make a positive difference on the world and we are very excited to see her take this next step forward. Come see what it’s all about. There will be live music! https://www.facebook.com/events/260343284309760/
