Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 11/12-11/17

I am officially back from my trip to Boston! I had such a blast and can’t wait to get back there again. We didn’t do a whole lot of activities but we did walk part of the Freedom Trail which took us through the cemetery where Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and the Boston Massacre victims (among others) are buried as well as past the Boston Massacre site, the Old North Church, Old State House, and the Bell in Hand Tavern which was the first bar in Boston. We also ate a lot of really good food and just hung out. It was exactly what I needed in a quick getaway. But now I’m back and back with your weekly calendar.

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 11/11-11/17

I’m down in San Diego for a Neuroscience convention this weekend and into next week. It feels surprisingly similar to when I was here for Comic Con, but people are dressed a bit differently. Other than a transformative twenty one pilots show in Ventura, I’ve been pretty music-light lately due to conference prep. Top recommendation for next week is definitely The Milk Carton Kids at Largo. Tuesday will be a Revue where they invite other folky friends up on stage and Saturday is a more traditional show. Both will be fantastic.

Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 11/4-11/11

So, I had this whole spiel already written up and worked out last night so that I would have less to do today to get my calendar post up. However, I woke up with the worst combination of ickyness you could imagine. Between the spinning room, fever feelings from standing upright, nausea, and all around discomfort, it took awhile to get my day going and to feel less like crap. Hopefully, it’s just a 24 hour stomach bug but here is the weekly calendar….

Happy Monday! I’m especially happy this week because I’m flying out to Boston on Friday and will be returning Monday. This trip will entail some photography, adventures, eating, and hopefully some music too! I’m super excited because I haven’t really been to Boston since that 8th grade field trip when we just kind of went through and saw all the historical sights. So while I will not be here to go out and enjoy some local shows during the weekend, this means that you must go in my stead. Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 11/4-11/10

You guys are lucky that I’m schedule obsessed because this calendar nearly didn’t happen this week. I’m currently drinking straight from the bottle (sparkling cranberry juice…don’t worry) and listening to Joe Firstman’s The War of Women. This does not speak well of my current mental state. I’ve got a big conference that starts next weekend in San Diego and all the preparation for that on top of my already overwhelming duties has me at my wit’s end.

The one can’t miss show next week is Sunday night at Swing House Studios. High Voltage Magazine is celebrate its 10 year anniversary. Working with the HV crew these past couple of years has been a life highlight. I couldn’t be happier or more proud to be involved with High Voltage. In fact, this show is so can’t miss that I am going to do my best to drive up and back from San Diego to be there. Amanda’s SD Concert Calendar 10/28-11/3

It’s a drizzly Monday down here in San Diego. Normally I would be enjoying it more if it weren’t for the fact that I have to get back out to the barn by 12:30 to meet the vet for one of my horses. This will be the third time this month that we have had the vet out for one horse or another. I’m posted up inside a Starbucks close by and I can tell you that the line to get a drink here is nothing short of ridiculous. I guess that’s the way it goes with grey weather. Do none of these people own tea or coffee at home? Just out of curiosity….

This is also the week of one of my favorite holidays, Halloween! I am torn between going to dance class like a good girl or going out to dance with Transfer when they play the Casbah. Also this week is Two Door Cinema Club, The Neighbourhood, Father John Misty, and The 1975 to name a few.

Kristen’s LA Concert Calendar: 10/28-11/3

Writing this week from a pumpkin carving party. I think we got some good one’s this year. Someone even did a Yoda pumpkin! New Band Alert: The Tragic Thrills

Once upon a time there was a pop band called Allstar Weekend. They were wildly popular, having toured all over the world and enjoying the perks of being a Disney-esque pop band. Then one day, they went into the studio to record a new album and realized they were a completely different band with a different sound than before. Thus began the transformation from AllStar Weekend to The Tragic Thrills.

Below is their newly released video for their single “Tears”

They’ve only played a handful of shows so far but if you like what you see (hear) you can catch them tonight (10/25) at the Bootleg with Irontom.
